We are re-visiting our great blog on the Costa Rica Sloth Sanctuary because it's International Sloth day!
Back in May, I got an inquiry and order from the Dallas World Aquarium in Dallas, Texas for our entire sloth collection. I was just thrilled to hear that we would be featured in Dallas, but then I came to find out that the bags were actually heading to the Sloth Sanctuary of Costa Rica. I had a little freak-out moment. The Sloth Sanctuary wants to have our sloth bags in their shop? How cute!
I decided I had to see what they were doing at the Sloth Sanctuary. Apparently they rescue sloths from the local area from natural disasters or turmoil. And let me tell you, they are so cute.
This is Marshmallow. She is from the sloth species with two fingers, blonde hair, and the more active lifestyle. She looks so soft!
This is Belle! She is a member of the three-fingered sloth family. She plays in the day, has arms twice the size of her legs, and has a super cool raccoon-like mask. She reminds us of the sloth on our Sloth collection.
See the resemblance??
Okay, moving past our sloth obsession, the Sloth Sanctuary of Costa Rica is doing amazing things for local sloths and great research on cute little creatures, and we are so excited to be a part of the sanctuary experience. You can visit the sloths, stay on the sanctuary, and support the sanctuary in their efforts to save the sloths. Just be sure not to hug or touch any sloths; it could cause them distress.
As most animal organizations are, the sanctuary is underfunded. If you are able, you can symbolically adopt a sloth or make a donation to help them continue their amazing work. I mean, who wouldn't want to help this face??
