Since 1978, dads, builders, Egyptians, cats, matches, toy soliders, and so many more have come together at Ouachita Baptist University to raise money for student scholarships. Wait, what? Every year, the clubs at OBU have come together with the Ouachita Student Foundation to put on themed shows at an event called Tiger Tunes in an effort to keep their friends at their cherished university. This year, the Gregorys ventured to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to witness the beloved tradition.
I personally did not know what to expect. My daughter, Emory, a sophomore and member of Tri Chi at Ouachita, had tried to explain the magic that happens at Tiger Tunes, but you really can't explain it until you've seen it.
We were rooting for the Tri Chi Tumbleweeds. I gathered Hill City Popcorn for the girls before their final performances, grabbed our support pins, and prepared ourselves for a show to remember.
We sat down and watched Astronauts, Olympians, Train Conductors, and Stars dance their hearts out. I may be partial, but the Tumbleweeds sure put on a great show. (Thank you to Welsey Kluck for capturing these great moments.)
Valere Rene was also featured in two gift baskets at the silent auction. Our signature leopard bags and Fear the Tusk gear went for the good cause of helping students continue their education.
At the end, the men of Kappa Chi won first place with our lovely Tumbleweeds getting fourth and People's Choice. Check out some of the winning performances!
I'm so happy that we got to visit OBU and watch all of these students' hard work come to life. If you ever get the chance, I definitely recommend going to Tiger Tunes next year. You will not be disappointed.
